What does it cost to hire the venue?

Pavilion hire charges start from £50 per hour, with a minimum rental period of 4 hours. Exclusive hires are only normally available on Saturdays outside of the cricket season

Sometimes when you book everything, you end up with a shopping list of expensive items. It can be more cost effective to “do a deal” where we apply a cap or agree an approach that contains costs.

What is the capacity?

Seating prepared for a party in the pavilion

Eating restaurant style we can seat a maximum of 80 people, for a finger buffet we can hold nearly twice that number. In addition to the wooden tables and chairs we have; 5 round tables that seat 8, 6 trestle tables and over 60 more chairs.

Can I use the kitchen?

If you require the use of our kitchen, we apply a flat rate charge of £50. You are expected to clean and tidy the kitchen and leave it as you found it. If the kitchen is not left properly an additional cleaning charge of between £50 (our staff) or £120 (outside contractor) will be applied

Can I put up a marquee on the ground?

Marquee on the outfield

The erection of Marquees can be negotiated. Our concerns will be: it’s impact upon cricket, noise levels, lateness of noise, minimisation of damage to the cricket pitch and security. We always charge for marquee pitches and prices start from £800. Prices increase with size and duration.

Can I decorate the venue myself?

If you need access earlier to set-up or later to take them down, you MUST agree this in advance.

If you want to erect your own decorations, you must ensure that the product(s) you are using leave no residue or stains. If there is, we reserve the right to charge you to fix this, which could be expensive! Blu Tack, White tac and stick tape all leave damage to the walls so should not be used to affix decorations. The only acceptable product(s) are little circles of clear adhesive. These can be found with the brand names; “Removable Glu Dots”, “Removable Sticki Dots” or more generically “removable sticky dot adhesive tape”. These can be purchased from most supermarkets and stationery shops like WH Smith and Paperchase or online at http://www.paperchase.co.uk/bostik-removable-sticki-dots.html

Can I have exclusive use of the premises?

We are a private members club and we are open to our members at most times. This means while you will have exclusive use of the venue, during the cricket season there may well be matches or training activity occurring outside on the ground.

However, there is some wiggle room here! To help generate funds to support our cricketing activity we are closed to our members on Saturdays outside of the cricket season (September to April) and are available for exclusive hire.

Drinks / use of the bar

We are able to run a cash bar, or you may want to put some money ‘behind the bar’, making the bar free to your guests, we can work with that too!

If you require any special wines, spirits, beers etc… please let us know in advance and we will try to source this for you.

Corkage is charged where clients wish to bring their own drinks. This normally only applies to wines for which we charge £6 per bottle or £8 for sparkling.

If you wish to bring your own soft drinks, this may be OK if we are not providing staff. If however, we are providing staff and the bar is open, a flat charge will be levied.

Can my event go on after 11pm?

Yes however, please bear in mind: we are a cricket club nestled in a semi rural setting, but with a few houses nearby. We try to minimise the noise pollution as much as possible. This may mean we ask you to ‘turn the music down’ after 23:00 and encourage you to keep the sound in by closing doors etc… We try to live in harmony!

Our normal licence for selling alcohol is to 23:00 PM. This can be extended to 01:00 AM. The licensing is complex in this area and this is not always available and we do charge £50 to process the application

Leaving the venue / clearing up

We can clean up the main pavilion hall and toilets after your event and we charge £50 for this service. Alternatively you can agree that you will do this. If you elect to do this yourself, this is a superficial clean, not deep clean, and includes the removal of any rubbish, removal of decorations, wiping of a surfaces and sweeping of floor

Please ensure your guests vacate on time. You will be charged for any overtime in 15 minute intervals if we have to pay our staff to be present

We always ask for a damage deposit of at least £100. This is refundable within 5 working days of the event finishing. You need to request the return of your deposit using this form.

Can I hold an event for younger people (14-22 years old)?

Events for this age group are the most difficult to manage and cause the most problems. Accordingly this is not the market we aim for. On odd occasions we do make exceptions, where we know the individual and their family and friends or where we can be 100% satisfied that the event will be incident-free.

Please be aware that in addition to a £250 damage deposit we may ask for; a £500 Good Behaviour Bond, a minimum of two SIA approved security staff, plus sober adults to help ensure the safety of all at the event.

Good Behaviour Bonds are designed to help ensure that you take proper measures to ensure younger guests behave properly. If there is any bad behaviour either on the premises or immediately outside the premises, the whole of the bond will be forfeit. Bad behaviour includes; any underage alcohol consumption, alcohol having to be confiscated from under 18’s, fighting, shouting, playing on or damaging the wicket, any reason that causes the police or council noise officials to attend. If appropriate your good behaviour bond will be refunded within 5 working days of the event finishing.

Can I hire/erect a bouncy castle on the ground?

Bouncy castle on the outfield at Totteridge

We do not provide supervision for any bouncy castles that you book, supply or arrange. Safe supervision is your responsibility.

What’s the deposit / what happens if I cancel?

Once your £100 ‘save the date’ deposit is received, it is never refundable. Once the booking is finalised we apply variable cancellation charges depending on how much notice you provide.

For notice of 29 days or more we charge a cancellation fee of £100, for notice of between 15 and 28 days we charge a cancellation fee of 30% of the hire fee plus £100 and for 14 days or less notice we charge a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the total booking fees.

In circumstances where you have not yet paid your hire fees, you are still liable for any additional cancellation fees.

Can you provide a PA or sound system?

We have a 200w JVC UX-D457S Sound system with 6 ceiling speakers, this has 7 inputs including Bluetooth. So you can connect directly with your phone or tablet.

Disco lights and PA in use

We also have a Behringer PPA2000BT Europort 2000w PA system, which has 8 channel mixer controls, 3 microphones, speaker stands and Bluetooth connectivity. This can be hired for £50 per event plus an extra £100 deposit.

We would recommend you satisfy yourself as to whether the 200w system is appropriate or if you need the 2000w system. Please do not rely upon our advice.

Both these systems interact with our 6 laser lights and 2 strobe lights through, base, treble and beat.

Can I use a projector / show video?

We have a large electronic drop down screen and projector which you are able to connect a laptop computer via an SVGA cable

Our smart TV at the bar end has Samsung mirroring and Apple TV, so you can connect pictures and sound from your compatiable smart device, and HDMI to Sky and BT Sport.

The TV at the kitchen end can be connected Sky and BT and other devices through a HDMI connection.

Responsible behaviour at cricket grounds

We are a cricket club and whilst most hires take place outside of times when cricket is being played, there are times when both occur at the same time. In such circumstances you are reminded to be on your watch for cricket balls. These are extremely hard and can cause injury.

The centre of the cricket pitch – or ‘wicket’ – is off limits at all times during events. Please make sure nobody goes on it, not even small children. Please remember your deposit and/or good behaviour bond could be at stake.

Our staff are responsible for your event and maintaining our licence, please respect them. They have the legal power to refuse to serve and to ask people to leave. We hope this doesn’t happen, but please suport them if it does.

Security

For your protection and the protection of our staff we have CCTV; in the pavilion, behind the bar, on the decking, in the car park, looking at the gate (ANPR) and looking at the wicket
